Movies and Music for the Military

On Saturday, March 21, 2009 the Suffolk County Correction Officers Association participated in a pilot program to develop a partnership with Best Buy Stores for ACO's Movies and Music for the Military.

The event was a great success, and the cooperation from Best Buy was exceptional. We kicked off this campaign at the Riverhead, NY store. On hand were several correction officers from  Suffolk County, including officers with military backgrounds, and several Best Buy staff who passed out literature, and explained the program to the many customers who visited the store.

The first picture is of, from left to right, Jim Rutkowski General Manager Best Buy Riverhead, Debbie Barone Mobile Manager and project   coordinator/liaison Best Buy Riverhead, Correction Officer Craig McNabb U.S. Army veteran and  project spokesperson, Correction  Officer Jim Milowski Suffolk County Correction Officers Association Recording Secretary Navy Veteran and project manager posing at a collection box designed for the event by SCCOA/Best Buy team.

The second picture features Correction  Officer Thomas Barone and Correction Officer Greg Volpe   Suffolk County Correction Officers Association Public Relations Committee members donating a DVD at the collection box.

The third picture features Sergeant Eloy Costenzo, 82nd Airborne who is currently serving as Army Recruiter, Riverhead, NY, who thanks all of us, on behalf of all of his comrades  serving overseas, for our efforts in bringing a little taste of home to the soldiers, sailors and airmen serving their nation.

The fourth picture is of some grateful Best Buy customers  donating some CDs and DVDs to our  service men and women.

Overall the day was very successful, with Best Buy documenting increased sales by people making their             contributions for our program, and we collected a large number of CDs and DVDs to ship out! We will continue to    promote this program, and will update you of our progress.

Fraternally yours,

Jim Milowski,

Suffolk County Correction Officers Association
